Well there it is. Last week, Tiger Woods came out of hiding and issued his first public statement and apology since disappearing back at Thanksgiving.
He didn’t come back with the full beard and the “mountain man†mini fro like he’s been camping for a few weeks like I wanted to, but he’s back. I still can’t tell if Tiger went hard or didn’t go hard enough. I mean he really gave himself a personal self beatdown. How many times was he going to say “this is my faultâ€, “I made the mistakeâ€, “I let everyone downâ€. We get it, you messed up with your wife and you disappointed some people. I hear you, everyone wants to be a good guy, and I agree this is between Tiger and Elin. Tiger personally didn’t owe me an apology at all, but I understand why he did it. I guess some people needed a bit of an explanation.

Does Tiger want his old reputation back? Can he ever get it back? Does he really just want people to love him again? Does he want to walk down the 18th green at the Masters again with thousands of people trailing behind him like he’s Moses leading his people through the newly parted Red Sea? Is he going to be one of those people who have this incident as a punch line to the rest of his life. I don’t think so. I think he is going to get a few wins under his belt, get close to breaking Jack Nicklaus’ record, and all will be well.
He did say “I’ve got a problem†but I’m happy he didn’t say “My name is Tiger Woods and I’m a sex addictâ€. Because I still think that is B.S. I covered this back when David Duchovny came out with his sex addiction. Addiction to sex isn’t the problem, it is the fact that you are having sex with women who aren’t your wife. Think about every other addiction you’ve ever heard of. If you are an alcoholic, you can’t get enough liquor and can’t control the amount you consume. The problem is the self control. The sex addiction isn’t the same. If he was practicing his driving long woods with Elin 10 times a day, I’m not thinking he would be in rehab. You don’t have to apologize for that. The problem isn’t the sex, it is who he is having sex with. Like say he was a drug addict, just because you are a drug addict doesn’t mean you have to rob someone for drug money.
Let me tell you something about men, we’re all sex addicts, we just all don’t have willing access to women like Tiger Woods. Ladies, your man wants to have sex with you more than what you are having now. I don’t care if it is once every other week, or twice a day. We’re always up to make one more run at it. It could be during a critical play in the Super Bowl and we would find a way to make it work. I don’t know how much sex is hypothetically too much sex, because I’ve never been close to that threshold. Another blow job always sounds like a good idea, right fellas?
Now if Tiger is in therapy to learn how to control himself and be a better guy, I hear that. It has to be tough to be at the top of the world and not believe that everything is yours. He might need a little deprogramming to make that happen. The crazy thing is that these women are still going to be throwing it at him, hoping to him the baby momma or re-up wifey lotto. That’s gotta be tough. So Tiger, Man Up and get through whatever rehab you have left and get back to doing what you do best. I think everyone is rooting for you to come out of the other side a better person who can hold it all together.
You’re gonna have to be strong, because I don’t think you are going to be seeing this side of Elin until long about 2012.

Wish this whole thing would go away. I don’t care about Tiger, his wife, his seed, or the chicks he blazed. Athletes are athletes, and while they should be role models because of the exposure they have, they aren’t automatically that.
Personally, methinks middle Ammurrica can’t stand that an aloof black (in their eyes) dude came in, wrecked their sport, married their ideal of womanhood, and then made more money than they will see in fifty lifetimes. So, when it came out he was blazing every blond and brunette west of, er, east of, er, in the continental US, they had a nice safe target for all that bitterness. Yes, he screwed up royally and owes his wife an apology (and Kobe ring?), but all this umbrage taking is getting pretty old.
